Divorce Matters We Handle

Divorce can be a complicated process with numerous legal issues that need to be addressed. At Solomon, Berschler, Campbell & Thomas, P.C., we can help you resolve the following divorce matters:

Contested Vs. Uncontested Divorce

There are two main types of divorce: contested and uncontested divorce.

  • A contested divorce means a couple disagrees on at least one term of divorce (e.g., child custody, child support, property division, spousal support, etc.), while an uncontested divorce means both parties agree on all terms of the divorce.
  • An uncontested divorce – also known as a “mutual consent divorce” – is a faster divorce process, typically lasting three to four months without requiring both parties to go to court. By contrast, a contested divorce can take years or so because the outcome can be determined through court litigation.

No matter what type of divorce you face, our legal team is prepared to help you file all the paperwork, meet all the deadlines, and help you obtain the best possible outcome. Let our firm help you get a fresh start in life!

What Are Pennsylvania’s Resident Requirements for Divorce?

Pennsylvania has various requirements for divorce depending on the circumstances of the particular case. To file for divorce in Pennsylvania, one or both spouses must be a state resident for at least six months. The spouse who files for divorce must also prove that they can no longer continue living with their partner due to irreconcilable differences or infidelity. After filing, a waiting period is mandated before the court can allow a decree of divorce. Additionally, the divorce petition must be filed in the county where the couple lives or resided during their marriage.

How Can Our Divorce Attorneys In Montgomery County Help?

We encourage clients to resolve their divorce through negotiation — a cost-effective and collaborative approach. For child custody disputes, mediation is mandatory in Pennsylvania. While we try to avoid the contentiousness of trial, we prepare every case to be successful in court, if necessary.

Disputes over alimony, child support, grandparents' rights, and property division can quickly escalate. When reasonable negotiation fails, we will be aggressive advocates and fight for your rights in trial. We also help clients modify divorce agreements.

Some ways that a divorce attorney can help you include the following:

  • Help you settle family matters involved with your divorce, such as child custody, child support, and alimony.
  • Alleviate stress by helping you have a smooth divorce process.
  • Take care of the paperwork and help you avoid costly mistakes.
  • Aggressively representing you if your case is taken to court.
